צְבָאוֹת tseba'ot is the plural of tsaba' "army, troop". In Amos the word is only used in the plural and as part of a name for God, the phrase is: "(My lord,) Adonai, God of armies" 3:13; 4:13; 5:14, 15, 16, 27; 6:8; 14; 9:5.
