צָהֳרַיִם tsahorayim "noon" often with connotations of brightness and happiness, compare and contrast Am 8:9. For this theme in Amos cf. 4:13; 5:8; and the remarks on these hymnic fragments. Interestingly 8:9 follows from 8:8 which closely echoes the one fragment (9:5-6) which does not mention darkness and light.
