פַּח pah "trap" most often for birds, and usually thought to be a net. Used twice in Am 3:5. Job 18:9: "a trap grasps by the heel", (cf. Jer 18:22) suggests that a pah was a kind of noose. Though the development of Ps 140:5 "The proud have hidden a trap for me, and with cords they spread a net, along the road they have set bait for me" may suggest that the "trap" can be a net.
