Although Amos is a "prophetic book" the verb "to prophesy" occurs very predominantly in the short narrative (7:12, 13, 15, 16) the other two uses are in a dispute form aimed at convincing Amos' hearers of his right and duty to speak out (3:8), and while telling of Israel's command to prophets to cease prophesying (2:12).
