מַיִם
mayim "water
or waters" the word is plural in form and either singular or plural in
meaning in English, in Amos it is used
- twice of drought as a judgment God will bring (Am 4:8
& 8:11)
- twice in the psalm
fragments of God pouring "the waters of the sea"
over the land (Am 5:8
& 9:6)
- and once in the famous appeal for right behavior and justice
(Am 5:24) as
a parallel
to "stream".
