כּוּשִׁי kushi "Ethiopian, Sudanese, African" in Am 9:7 these southernmost peoples known are as dear to Adonai as Israel. Cushites seem to include both those from Upper Egypt (Ethiopia) and points south (cf. Jer 13:23).
